Saving Paws is dedicated to supporting rescue groups who have committed themselves to the demanding role of being caregiver to "special needs" animals. We supply the essential funding for animals in crisis who reside with those very extraordinary rescues. The expense of properly caring for special needs animals can be financially overwhelming.

If we can provide vetting for an animal to regain sight, or provide a wheelchair in order to give mobility, then we are doing our job.

Saving Paws is an advocate against puppy milling/commercial breeding. We believe that all pet stores selling precious animals must be stopped in order to end the horrific conditions that their "parent" dogs must endure.

Many of the puppies sold in pet stores and on the internet are born at abusive "puppy mills" –filthy, overcrowded factories that breed dogs with a variety of health and behavior problems. Thousands of dogs in Indiana are languishing in such facilities, where they'll never know the pleasure of a treat, a toy, bed, or the feel of grass under their feet.

Urge your state senator to vote YES on H.B. 1468. Hoosiers can do better for dogs!

Why aren't current laws enough to deal with puppy mills?

Indiana's current animal cruelty code is incredibly weak. Neglect is only defined as failing to provide an animal with food or drink or tethering an animal for more than a short period of time with a tether that is less than three times the length of the animal's body.

Additionally, many cities and counties in Indiana do not have animal ordinances. Local laws to regulate commercial breeders simply do not exsist in many cities and counties.
