Saving Paws volunteers were present to provide the physically demanding efforts to rescue, and then care for the animals effected by Hurricane Katrina. Saving Paws supplied a volunteer vetting staff with critically needed medical supplies; Including an x-ray machine (which was delivered through the flooded area by a police escort), microscopes, and desparately needed medicines, to name only a few.

Saving Paws is proud to have built a 30X40 ft building for Hurricane animals that had remained living in the elements for several months even after the hurricane.

We are currently putting our energy into raising (continual) "hurricane" funds for two "RV type" trailers that will supply additional space for both animal and shelter staff. The RV's will also serve as a mobile spay/neuter center in the New Orleans area as it begins the monumental task of rebuilding.
